MCGS mission is: - to introduce gender perspective into scientific and social practice, - to oppose all manifestations of gender-based discrimination in Russia's social, economic, political and cultural life; - to work towards overcoming sexism in humanitarian sciences, public opinion and social policy; - to make a contribution into the formation of civil democratic society in Russia by participating in the establishment of independent women's movement and by promoting the necessity of women's real participation in the process of making political decisions;MCGS - works to develop Women's Studies curricula for universities and higher educational institutions; - develops training programs for the integration of women into political life and market economy; - cooperates with the press and government structures, carries out independent expert assessment of official documents and programs related to women's rights and interests; - admits interns from abroad on gender problems, provides them with access to libraries and archives, visa support, contacts in Russia, consultations; maintains correspondence with numerous foreign correspondents, universities, libraries, foundations; - together with other organizations MCGS works to set up and extend an information base about women and for women; - in collaboration with Colette Schulman and Catrina van den Heuvel distributes and participates in the publication of feminist magazine in the Russian language. |
